Rive Gauche — the Left Bank of Paris.
In this city where art and culture breathe through every street, Paris-based freelance announcer Toko Amemiya captures moments of daily life and the charm of her favorite places.

Enjoy the second chapter of her series, “La Vie Rive Gauche.”

LINNEA LUND

Have you ever heard the term “conscious cashmere”?

It refers to cashmere produced with mindfulness — not only with respect for animal welfare (the treatment of cashmere goats), but also through sustainable herding practices, fair trade principles, and contributions to local communities.

The brand LINNEA LUND embodies these values, offering the finest Italian-made cashmere while cherishing care for the planet, people, and animals alike.
Drawn to this philosophy, I was eagerly looking forward to visiting their showroom.

When I actually visited, I found myself immersed in a world unlike any I’d seen before.
At the top floor of an apartment building, the room was adorned with Dalahäst horses, and on the table awaited a Swedish-style fika set.
It felt as if I had been invited into the warm home of a Scandinavian friend.
And yet, beyond the windows stretched the quintessential Parisian scenery of Saint-Germain.

The brand’s founder, Charlotte, hails from Sweden.
The space—where the gentle spirit of Sweden blends seamlessly with the sophistication of France—felt both stylish and comforting, naturally lifting my mood.

Seated at a candlelit table, holding a teacup favored by the Swedish royal family, I found myself chatting with the staff about the shades of cashmere, trying on different pieces—each moment felt quietly fulfilling, like a small luxury in itself.

That day happened to be the very day Charlotte gave birth, so I wasn’t able to meet her in person.
I was told, however, that she often takes orders herself—a true Parisian luxury, to be able to speak directly with the designer and create a piece made just for you.

It’s easy to see why Ines de La Fressange fell in love with this brand—the cashmere is irresistibly soft, with a refined, unisex sensibility that makes even the act of choosing feel special.

Next time, I hope to meet Charlotte in person—perhaps at her traditional Thursday breakfast gathering, once she’s back after welcoming her baby.
